November 8, 2006 Seattle, WA-Neah Power Systems, Inc., a Nevada corporation (Pink Sheets:NPWS – News) announces that it was issued an additional U.S. patent, U.S. Patent No. 7,105,245 titled “Closed Liquid Feed Fuel Cell Systems and Reactant Supply and Effluent Storage Cartridges Adapted for Use with the Same.” This patent helps secure Neah Power Systems’ lead in micro fuel cells that use Neah’s proprietary silicon-based design. The cartridge system of a portable fuel cell is an important component to the overall value of a fuel cell. Unlike batteries, Neah fuel cells are designed to be “recharged” instantly by swapping replaceable fuel cartridges. End-users of mobile products powered by Neah fuel cells will achieve longer runtime by carrying spare fuel cartridges instead of the additional batteries and wall chargers currently used. Neah’s fuel cell cartridges will be smaller, lighter and more convenient than the extra lithium-ion batteries currently used to extend runtime. This is particularly important for military and homeland security applications where recharging batteries is impossible. Leroy Ohlsen, Chief Technology Officer of Neah Power Systems commented on the patent approval: “We are extremely pleased to have been granted this patent covering cartridges used to supply fuel cells with power. This Patent adds to our existing portfolio of Patents and protecting our unique, porous silicon based fuel cell and could potentially enhance the capability of any liquid oxidant based fuel cell system.” About Neah Power Systems Neah Power Systems is a micro fuel cell development company using a patented, silicon-based design to provide long-lasting, efficient and safe power solutions for portable electronic devices, including notebook PCs and other power-hungry computer, entertainment, and communications products.
